History
of OregonRocketry
OregonRocketry
started out as a loose knit group of rocket flyers in Portland,
OR in the early 90s. They originally started Tripoli Prefecture
049, and in 1996 started National Association of Rocketry Section
number 555 "OREO". OREO stands for Oregon Rocketry
Enthusiasts Organization. (Naturally, the cookie associated
with this name is often found at OREO/OROC meetings and launches.)
These
two groups have co-existed under the name "OregonRocketry".
In late 2000, the club incorporated and convened its first
BoD,
developed By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation. This was mainly
done to better represent OregonRocketry as official organization
and protect member and club assets from liabilities.
From
then on, OROC has expanded its outreach in the Pacific NW. With the highest standing waiver (35 K Above Ground Level)
outside of Blackrock, NV
, 4 completely different launch sites, scattered in every region
in the state of Oregon (2 of which are only open to members)
a growing bank account, an ever expanding membership list, and
having club members own the parcel of land we launch from, OROC
looks to grow even more thanks to hard work, good luck and lots
o` AP.
